The summits of history

After praying the divine office, we had the celebration of the Holy Mass that was presided by Fr. Manuel Beaumont, prior provincial of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation. In his homily, he brought out three points: a reference to the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, a reflection on the Letter to the Galatians and a hint on the gospel according to St. Luke. In the reflection on the Letter to the Galatians, he invited us not to fall into legalism in which the Galatians had fallen after having known Jesus through the preaching of St. Paul, a temptation that can be true in the present time. In reference to the gospel, he came out with a query on how is our prayer being aware that authentic prayer consists of putting oneself in the hands of God.

The first session of the morning and part of the second were used in listening to Fr. Ángel Martínez Cuesta who gave us “A reflection on the brief ‘Religiosas Familias’ and the first century of autonomous life of the Augustinian Recollects”; the topic was developed in five points: the negotiation and the content of the brief, some reflections regarding the centenary, a critical glimpse on the first century of our autonomous existence, some characteristics of our apostolate and a concluding note. After the exposition, a series of questions was thrown which was answered by the speaker.

After the intervention, some communications received were presented, the capitulars were reminded to submit their choices of commissions to work in, some notes on the activities to be done on Sunday, 10th of October as proposed by the animation team was made, and the presentation of the information by the Prior General was started who began his exposition reminding us that today, 7th of October, the autonomy of the monastery of St. Ezekiel Moreno of Augustinian Recollect nuns in Bacolod City, Philippines, was inaugurated.

In the sessions of the afternoon, Fr. General continued with his information and as he finished each part, the provincials gave their respective report about the topic presented.
