Warming up the engines
Wednesday, October 6
As is traditional among us, we started the day with the
liturgical prayer and the celebration of the Holy Mass. This was presided by Fr.
Miguel Miró, the president of the Chapter who in his homily brought attention to
two main points, prayer and communion, applied to our charismatic experience. He
reminded us that the Church requires of us to be teachers of prayer and
communion, and that the Order asks of us as capitulars a universal spirit taking
into account the plurality that this assembly represents.
The sessions of the morning were spent on listening to Fr.
Aquilino Bocos, a Claretian, who discussed the theme of “The reorganization of
structures among the Augustinian Recollects.” The speaker developed his talk
from seven points, namely, the reorganization of structures, the obstacles and
the opportunities that are present, the key question, the requisites before
starting the organization of structures, the relation between the Order and the
major organisms (Provinces), the motivation and co-responsibility in the
structural innovation, and some final considerations. These points opened the
way to a lively dialogue between the capitulars and the speaker.
In the sessions of the afternoon, the use of the “Digi-velox”
was introduced, the ordo capituli and the system of revision and approval of the
actas were approved, the work commissions were presented, and the schedule for
the weekend was voted upon with the decision of working on saturday mornings.
