On the occasion of the Meeting of the General Council with the bishops and Recollect Provincials around the world, a day was arranged so that representatives of all the branches of the OAR Family can celebrate in advance the Day of the Order.
On Friday, November 28, in the monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla, (La Rioja, Spain) the celebration of the Day of the Order, of Augustinian Recollects will be moved earlier. The anniversary normally falls on the date of the session of the Chapter of Toledo when the Augustinian Recollection was born on December 5, 1588.
The reason for moving this celebration some days earlier is that on November 28 in the historic La Rioja convent there will be a gathering of the General Council, of the Order, most of the Augustinian Recollect bishops, spread out in Dioceses around the world and the Priors provincial, of the eight religious Provinces, that compose the Order.
Likewise, as special guest, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, will be present. Before the start of the public functions, the cardinal will meet the Recollect bishops in private and speak to them about the apostolic service of the successors of the Apostles.
