Ordenación episcopal del obispo Eusebio Hernández Sola

El sábado día 19 de marzo recibía la ordenación episcopal el agustino recoleto Eusebio Hernández Sola. El nuevo pastor de Tarazona (España) estuvo arropado por los hermanos de su orden: el prior general, Miguel Miró, y algunos consejeros generales procedentes de Roma; Catorce de los dieciocho obispos agustinos recoletos que ejercen su ministerio en América. Junto a ellos más de un centenar de religiosos llegados de distintos puntos de la geografía española, misioneras agustinas recoletas y hermanos de las fraternidades seglares.

Eusebio Hernández, bishop of Tarazona (Aragon, Spain)

Augustinian Recollect Father Eusebio Hernández Sola has been appointed Bishop of Tarazona, Aragon, Spain, by Benedict XVI. Father Eusebio was born 66 years ago in Cárcar, Navarra, Spain, just a few kilometers from the diocese where he will be ordained bishop this coming March 19. He has worked since 1975 in Rome in the Sacred Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

Exhibition of paintings by Juan Barba in Marcilla (Navarra, Spain)

Until the year 2005, the convent of Marcilla (Navarra, Spain) was one of the most important seminaries of the Order. Since 18 December 2010, the historic building maintains in its ground cloister a museum which was inaugurated with a monographic show of one of the painters most closely linked with the Order, the Madrid-born Juan Barba.

On December 5th religious, youth and members of the secular order from all over the world remembered the 422nd anniversary of the Order.

LIV OAR General Chapter

The General Chapter of the Augustinian Recollects is the supreme authority within the Order. It takes place every six years and it examines the status of the institution. The Prior General and his counsellors are also elected in it and these then prepare a plan to put into operation the decisions taken by the members of the Chapter over the subsequent six years.

Closing of the Diocesan Process for the Cause of Canonization of Fr. Jenaro Fernandez

On June 28 Cardinal Vallini, the Vicar General of Benedict XVI for the diocese of Rome, presided at the Lateran Palace the closing of the Diocesan Process for the Cause of Canonization of Fr. Jenaro Fernandez Echeverría, who died in fame of sanctity in Rome in 1972.

For more than 20 years he has worked in renovated religious iconography being faithful to the gospels. Bishop Alphonse Gallegos

For 7 years after his Episcopal ordination, Bishop Gallegos was a parish priest of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Sacramento and resided in that parish during his years as auxiliary bishop of the diocese. Msgr. Alphonse Gallegos was known for his extraordinary dedication to the needs of the Hispanics and the poor. The Augustinian Recollect Bishop exercised his pastoral ministry especially among the migrants, the elderly and the youth. He devoted much time for the formation of the young, especially the “low riders”.

Closing of the Renewal Course for America 2010

Bishop Carlos Briseño, auxiliary bishop of México City, and Bishop David Arias, emeritus bishop of Newark (USA), were present for the closing of the Renewal Course for America 2010 that was organised by the Order of Augustinian Recollects. For four weeks 25 religious from 12 countries reflected on the importance of the Word in their life and mission.
