The Local Authorities of Caldas and the Augustinian Recollects “show off” an organ after 25 years

The organ of the Church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, better known as the Augustinians, which is run by the Order of Augustinian Recollects in the Colombian city of Manizales, has been restored after 25 years. It was a joint effort of the Order and the local Authorities of Caldas that made it possible for its musical notes to be heard once more after a quarter of a century of silence.

Last week on November 14th the Augustinian Recollect Community offered a concert at 7.30pm in the Church of the Sacred Herat of Jesus. In this way they wished to offer their thanks for the cooperation and support of the Authorities of Caldas, the Province of Our Lay of Candelaria and the local parish community who linked up to restore the Church organ which had been silent for 25 years.

The Programme

The musical programme began with the interpretation of Schuberts Ave Maria, and Adeste Fidelis played by the organist Álvaro Fernando Tinjacá, a student of the Conservatory of Bogotá, who was accompanied by the Spanish Augustinian Recollect tenor, Antonio Abecia, In the intermission the Chamber Orchestra of Caldas played some pieces thus joining themselves to the occasion.

And to finísh the musical evening Los Tres amores and the Agnus Dei could be heard interpreted by the organist Luis E. García, accompanied by the tenor Adalberto from Manizales itself.
