Canta y camina (CyC), Is a bimonthly Spanish publication that takes its name from one of Augustine’s most known phrases. Made especially for people who know and/or work with our friars: family, employees, students, etc.

Nine thousand copies are offered in Spain and twenty thousand in Mexico, USA and Costa Rica.

A couple of weeks ago, the editors were asked to prepare a special edition of CyC now that the Order is preparing to celebrate it’s 100th anniversary as an autonomous religious order.

As they normally do, the editors got together and divided the work and they immediately put hands to work. After three weeks of dedicated study, the publication is ready to see in pdf format while it is still at the printers in Spain and Mexico.

Each of the eight pages are variants of the same theme, revitalization. In the first page you can find a simple explanation of what is being celebrated and the official centennial logo. Pages two and three narrate the history of this accomplishment. Pages four and five offer an interview with the Order’s father general. Pages six and seven offers two articles concerning the process of revitalization, the first with a lay person from Mexico belonging to the third order, Rosy Castaño. The second article is a message from an Augustinian Recollect bishop in Brasil. The last page, like always, has brief news articles.

Infographic Supplement

As the project developed, the specialists working on it ended up with a meticulously elaborated eight page supplement with plenty of information and material that easily can be turned into various posters.

Basically it’s a three part presentation. The first part is a world map showing all the places where the order has an active community. A timeline showing the most important dates in the history of the Order within civil and religious context. And last but not least, the milestones during the Order’s four hundred year history. We know this presentation will be well appreciated in parishes, schools and all the groups that know and work with our friars throughout the world.

From an educational point of view, this supplement inaugurates a new period in “Canta y Camina” and takes it to the peak of its twenty-five year history.
