Memoirs Ong Haren Alde 2008.Spanish Solidarity reaches to 9 countries through the ONG HAREN ALDE
The following are some milestones in 2008 done by ONG HAREN ALDE of the Augustinian Recollects which gathers all the data in their annual memoirs of this solidarity organization, namely 24 projects in 7 countries of America, Asia and Africa which are related to potable water and sanitary latrines as well as education and formation of people; help for the handicapped and better hospital equipments; support of almost 2.500 children in 9 countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia; a huge global investment of more than million euros…
More than million euros was invested in 2008 for development projects. With the economic and solid support of the benefactors of ONG HAREN ALDE the different local and autonomous administration continued their operation. Without these support there would have been no possible financial backup to all these initiatives which include the basic needs in the seven regions of America and Africa.
Some of the institutions that assumed and helped in the works of ONG HAREN ALDE are: the Community of Madrid, the Government of Navarra, Government of Rioja, the Valenciana Generalitat, the Community of Castille and Leon, the Board of Communities of Castille-La Mancha; the municipalities of Salamanca, Talavera de la Reina (Toledo), Tudela (Navarra), Zaragoza and Arnedo (La Rioja), and banking institutions like Caja Navarra…
One of the projects which is undoubtedly the most relevant is that of Sierra Leone. The project called “Proyecto Pikines” tries to eliminate chronic hunger prevalent among infants, the poverty of the people, the easy transmission of serious diseases of the area, the discrimination and genital mutilation of women, the illiteracy in Biriwa through the construction of educational centers; schools and factories of occupational formation as well as educational tours around the villages.
The Augustinian Recollects worked hard in this zone when they reopened the mission after the civil war in 2004. HAREN ALDE helps in containing hunger and infant mortality.
Almost 2.500 children supported/helped
HAREN ALDE in 2008 disbursed a good amount to help in supporting 2.455 children from Latin America and African countries to improve their quality of life. It is very gratifing to know that children from Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Guatemala, Sierra Leona, China and Costa Rica found essential sustenance for their most basic needs.
Future Challenges
Last August 28, 2008 there was a change in the presidency of ONG HAREN ALDE. Fr. Manuel Fernandez Rodriguez took over the rein fromSeveriano of Caceres, who after six years in the organization decided to go to Chota (Peru) to dedicate more closely in the development projects which ONG undertakes in the area since its foundation.
The present president of ONG, in a letter explains and recalls the two primordial objectives of the organization: namely to encourage all members of the Augustinian Recollect family to merge all forces to fulfill the mission of being closer to the less privileged, and to increase the necessary resources for the development of new projects in the less fortunate countries.
About ONG HAREN ALDE
Haren ALDE is a non-governmental organization created in 1992 under the Order of Augustinian Recollects with the sole objective of working IN FAVOR of the less fortunate persons and places.
Its projects of developmental cooperation and patronage are realized through the financial aid of official organizations, foundations, patronages and associate benefactors.
It also gets support from the communal commitment of all Augustinian Recollects’ parishes and colleges in Spain and in 19 countries where the Order works.
HAREN ALDE operates with volunteers as its personnel.
