The Cuban political prisoners, Adolfo Fernández, Pedro Argüelles and Antonio Ramón Díaz have declared a hunger strike last September 19 in the prison of Canaletas (Ciego de Ávila), after having confiscated from Adolfo Fernández some texts that are religious in nature, including the Confesssions of Saint Augustine.
The news was reported by Oswaldo Paya, one of the founders of the Christian Liberation Movement and a companion of Antonio Ramon Diaz, a prominent representative of this organization and the Varela Project, who was sentenced to a 20-year imprisonment, and took part in the strike of Fernandez
Paya also complained that more than half a hundred prisoners of the Primavera de Cuba (2003), have already been in prison for 5 years and 6 months with highly dangerous criminals for a simple “crime” of peacefully upholding and promoting human rights of the People of Cuba.
