The Augustinian Recollect school in Valladolid in solidarity with the most needy of Sierra Leone

The  Campus Ministry Department of  Colegio San Agustín of Valladolid, a school of the Augustinian Recollects in this capital  of Castilla and Leon, has concluded the “Operation Kilo” and “Operation Toy” that began at the beginning of advent, with the purpose of fulfilling an authentic solidarity Christmas among the entire academic community.

Even though for the previous years,   the non-perishable food supplies gathered were sent to Sierra Leone, this time and in the  midst of so much necessity  due to  the economic crisis being experienced  even in Spain,  it was decided that some would also be shared to families and groups in Valladolid.

The group of volunteers (3º B class of ESO and their class adviser,  the Augustinian Recollect José Antonio Román)  facilitated the collection  per class and the rest of the studentry helped in the classification of objects  and in the distribution of food supplies to some needy families in Valladolid.

On the other hand, the group Kamabai de Parquesol, carried out their  Operation Kilo in various schools of that district in the capital of Castilla and Leon,  and it was delivered to Colegio San Agustín to add up to the school campaign.  Their major contribution was milk and baby food.

In addition,  the group of Parquesol, in conjunction with the NGO Haren Alde of Castilla and Leon, organized a solidarity flee market  at the center of  Juan de Austria.  The proceeds amounting to 1,600 euros were used  to buy baby food and powdered milk for the children of  “Kinder San Agustín” of Kamabai,  a pioneer pre-school in Sierra Leone which was built and furnished with funds raised by the Grupo Parquesol.
