St. Augustine reborn in Bethlehem
At the mouth of the Amazon is the city of Bethlehem, capital of the Brazilian state of Pará. Augustinian Recollects arrived here a little over a hundred years to work on the promotion of the neighbors in the neighborhood of Queluz. Today it runs a community center that serves as a model clinic, vocational school and meeting point. Report issued in the People of God (TVE) on December 16, 2012.

At the mouth of the Amazon River Portel mission has spread all over Valencia. The Augustinian Recollects of the parish of Our Lady of Light 93 serve base Christian communities scattered along the banks of a maze of islands and rivers in the Marajó Archipelago, one of the poorest areas of Brazil. At the mouth of the Amazon, in the brief mission, the Augustinian Recollects denounce injustices such as lack of drinking water and increased child abuse. The religious have chosen to accompany and provide quality education to the families of the poorest neighborhoods.
Dom Jose: marked for death
Jose Luis Azcona, bishop of Marajó (Brazil) has received death threats for denouncing human trafficking mafias intended for sexual exploitation. Dom Jose is an Augustinian Recollect born in Spain with an intense prayer life living in abject poverty of his people together without fear that any day you can eliminate a hitman. The Italian Television, RAI, released “St. Augustine” last 2010 January 31 and February 1. The film, which is co-produced by Germany, Italy and Poland, was pre-viewed by Pope Benedict XVI last 2010 September 2. Both Pope and Italian press gave it high ratings. “We hope that many, by viewing this human drama and through it, may be led to discover Truth and Charity”, affirmed the Holy Father at the end of the movie.
