The Provincial Chapter of San Ezequiel Moreno agreed to expand his work in another country of the continent. It will also strengthen the mission of Sierra Leone and its social commitment in Asia
The Provincial Chapter of St. Ezekiel Moreno has decided to increase the presence of the Order of Augustinian Recollects in the world. The 27 capitulars, mostly young Augustinian Recollects, have decided to start a new mission in a country in Asia. In this way, there will be three Asian countries in which the province is present.
Indonesia or Vietnam. One of the two countries will be the destination of the new mission of the Augustinian Recollects. During 2018 the provincial council will decide in which country the Order should be present. Bishops of the two countries asked for the presence of religious in the place and the Provincial Chapter of St. Ezekiel Moreno has taken it into account.
It will be in 2019 when the new Agustinos Recoletos community joins the mission in one of the countries. In this way, one of the requests that the General Chapter of 2016 made to the province is met.
The capitulants have also decided to strengthen and consolidate the mission currently carried out by the Augustinian Recollects in Sierra Leone and that is being affected by the difficult situation in the country.
Likewise, the Provincial Chapter of Saint Ezekiel Moreno has reaffirmed his social commitment to the poorest in the Philippines. One of the decisions is to support the Agustino Recoleta International Solidarity Network ARCORES in the Philippines with the presence of religious in the most needy places in the Philippines.
As requested by the General Chapter, the province of San Ezequiel Moreno must also develop a Life and Mission project applied to the reality of the Philippines, Taiwan and Sierra Leone, where it is currently present. Likewise, it is expected that in the next four years an Augustinian Recollect Spirituality Center will be created in the Philippines.
