The General Secretariat for Spirituality and Formation is bringing together the presidents of the FSARs of each country, with the presence of the Prior General.
With revitalization as an objective, the presidents of the national councils of the Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity are meeting this Tuesday in Rome. It is the first time that the leaders and representatives of the Augustinian Recollect laity have held an international meeting. The FSARs from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, the United States, the Philippines, Mexico, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela attended.
Until December 6, the members of the Secular Fraternity will analyze the reality in order to propose new ways. The meeting, organized by the section of the FSAR of the General Secretariat of Spirituality and Formation, is part of a special week for the Order of Augustinian Recollects, since next Thursday the Augustinian Recollection will be celebrated. The Prior General, Miguel Miró, will accompany the FSAR throughout the week and will live with the laity the feast of the Recollection on December 5. The Prior General will preside at the Eucharist on the day of the Order, which will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
“Let us see, judge and act,” says Javier Monroy, president of the General Secretariat for Spirituality and Formation. During this week, attendees will examine the reality of FSAR around the world. The objective of the meeting is to energize the FSAR as part of the process of revitalization of the Order of Augustinian Recollects. “We intend to revitalize the lay side of the Order,” says Monroy.
Likewise, the meeting of presidents will serve as a preparation for the first international meeting of the FSAR, which will take place next year. “The group that is meeting these days in Rome is a group of the Order to reflect on the whole Order, especially on FSAR,” says the president of the General Secretariat of Spirituality.
