On Tuesday, March 14, the Social Media Subcommittee for the unification of the province of Santo Tomás de Villanueva de los Agustinos Recoletos began its first meeting in Caracas, Venezuela.
The objective of this meeting was to elaborate proposals on the management of social media that will be at the service of the new province Santo Tomás de Villanueva, product of the unification with the provinces: San José, Santa Rita and Santo Tomás de Villanueva, When the union occurs, in December 2018.
The place for this meeting was the convent of the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe de Las Mercedes in Caracas. Fr. Nicolás Vigo, from the provinces of San José, met there; Fr. Luciano Audisio, of the provinces Santo Tomás de Villanueva; Fr. Rodolfo Werneck, of the province Santa Rita; and Fr. Alfredo Sánchez, Chairman of the Subcommission.
The first thing that the religious did was to fix the Mission, the Vision and the Values of this Subcommission to work in an orderly and fast way. The mission of this Subcommittee reads as follows: “Offering fast, effective and creative information to religious and laity about the process of unification of the new province Santo Tomás de Villanueva.”
The Vision was included in this text: “Strengthening the work in the media that consolidates the Augustinian Recollect identity in the province of Santo Tomás de Villanueva.” And the values chosen by this Subcommittee are: “Immediacy, creativity, quality, teamwork and truthfulness”.
During the week of work, the religious analyzed the current reality of the media used by the provinces, prepared a proposal for the team of translators, reviewed the Directory and prepared several proposals to be presented at the Provincial Chapter in December 2018.
In the same way, they devised the publication of the album Santo Tomas de Villanueva Family with the aim of fostering knowledge among the religious, approaching the history of the ministries and knowing more closely the work that the friars in the three provinces do. They also expressed the urgent need to create the Communications Directorate, with its respective organizational chart, as well as the preparation of a Manual of organization and functions to facilitate the work of this office.
As is well known, the new province Santo Tomás de Villanueva, by decision of the General Chapter of 2016, will cover the countries of Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Peru and Venezuela. Religious were happy with the agreements taken and set dates for a series Of videoconferences that they will make during the year in order to achieve a more efficient work.
