Fray Enrique Gomez conferred the degree, Doctor of Theology, by the Pontifical University of Salamanca

Not only has the work a long title, it is also extensively treated. In 650 pages Fray Enrique traced and analyzed the thoughts of the Jesuit Jon Sobrino. With this study the Religious Brother can be one of the most informed about Liberation Theology.

The Discalced Carmelite Jesus Garcia Rojo, Fray Enrique’s thesis director, assisted him in the defense, which was done in the graduate school hall “Rector Sebastian Aguilar” at the said university. The director, together with the members of the panel, gave very positive evaluation on the study for its profundity, focus, presentation, documentation, and for its significance and contribution to knowledge and education. The oral defense was so well done, with Fray Enrique answering all questions with confidence and authority, that the panel gave him the perfect mark of 10. The panel members were the following: the theologian Santiago del Cura of the diocese of Burgos, the Dominican Martin Gelabert, and the Dean of the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical University, the Augustinian Gonzalo Tejerina.

Fray Enrique Gomez Garcia got his licentiate in theology in 1997. From that year and in view of his doctoral degree, the religious brother has been optimizing the use of his study time, which was spent in between assignments in the missions in Chota (Peru). Starting the year 2005 he balanced his study of Liberation Theology with the directorship of the “Colegio-Internado Santo Tomas de Villanueva” and his teaching assignments.
