Haren Alde, the NPO initiates a modernization stage which will promote volunteers and social action

On March the second, the General Counsel dedicated the whole day to study how Haren Alde works since 1992 when it was founded. Manuel Fernandez, the president of this NPO, travelled to Rome to make an official presentation to inform the General Counsel.

The General Chapter presented two points concerning Haren Alde which were studied profoundly and have to do with bringing it up to date. Two petition were made. The first is to make it professional, and the second concerns where its head office will be offering the installations and necessary resources.

Haren Alde’s president presented the four main objectives of this NPO: Social actions, be a common project for all of the Order, collaborate with all the religious and laity and look for ways that it be self sustainable as an organization.

The General Counsel insisted in opening more to volunteer participation in two different stages, the first one in all its ordinary tasks and secondly being an open field where Haren Alde can make a solidarity and evangelization presence where needed.

1,600 children are sponsored through 64 projects in 9 different countries

Fernandez made the point that even though this Non Profit Organization is not that large, it still sponsors a good amount of children in many varied countries.

Its main work is with developing indigenous communities, promotion of woman’s rights, medical and health preventive issues, workshops for professional training, cultural and educational projects, an promotion of cooperative efforts that are good for community development.

Its headquarters is in Spain and it has nine autonomous delegations. Haren Alde is present in many Latin American countries such as Peru and Brazil, and it is also present in Africa.
