The Prior General and his Council are responsible in implementing the guidelines proposed by the General Chapter for the next six years. Fr. Miguel Miró repeated in his position as Prior General, having been elected at the LV General Chapter.

Fr. Miguel Miró Miró, OAR Prior General

He was born in Vinebre (Tarragona) on September 2, 1949. He made his profession of religious vows in the Order of Augustinians Recollects on the 10th of August 1975 in Monteagudo (Navarra). He was ordained priest on August 28, 1978 in Lodosa (Navarra). He is a member of the Province of Saint Nicholas of Tolentine. Before entering the Order, he already finished a degree in Technical Architecture (1971) at School of Technical Architects in Barcelona. He completed his ecclesiastical studies (1978) at the Augustinian Recollects’Center for Theological Studies in Marcilla (Navarra). He is a graduate of Spiritual Theology (1997) at Gregorian University, Rome.

Until the year 1995, his life as religious was spent working in the field of formation in Spain. He was a former formator in Lodosa (1978-1982), Fuenterrabía (1982), Valladolid (1983-1984) and back again in Lodosa from 1984 to 1988. He was a former Master of Novices (1988-1991) in the novitiate house of Monteagudo (Navarra) and Master of the Professed (1991-1995) in the Theologate of Marcilla (Navarra). In the year 1995, he moved to Rome to pursue further studies in Spiritual Theology. In 1997 he was elected Prior Provincial of the Province of Saint Nicholas of Tolentine, and was reelected in the Provincial Chapter in the year 2000. He was appointed prior of the community of Marcilla in 2003 and was chosen as General Vicar of the Order during the General Chapter held in Rome in 2004. In 2010, he was elected as President of the General Chapter held in Spain, and then was chosen as the new Prior General.

José Ramón Pérez Sáenz, OAR

He was born in 1960 and is a native of Manjarrés (La Rioja, Spain). He became a member of the Augustinian Recollects in 1979 and was ordained priest in 1984. In Venezuela, he worked in schools and parishes, but also dedicated himself in the formation of seminarians.

In 2005, he was elected as Prior Provincial of Saint Joseph Province, was reelected for the same office, but had to relinquish his position following his incorporation into the new General Government. He currently works as the General Vicar of the Order, prior of the local community in the General Curia, president of the General Secretariat for Vocations and Initial Formation, and a member of the Restructuring Commission.

Fr. Raúl Buhay Murillo, OAR

Born in San Miguel (Surigao del Sur, Philippines) in 1962. He made his solemn profession in 1987 and was ordained a priest in 1988. After completing his philosophical and theological training in Marcilla (Spain), he went to Rome to study Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Subsequently, he obtained his doctorate in Educational Management at the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu. He has been part of the province’s government and has worked in Sierra Leone’s educational ministry and mission.

Fr. Juan Pablo Martínez Peláez, OAR

Born in Medellín (Antioquia, Colombia) in 1983. He professed as an Augustinian Recollect in 2004. At the Theological Seminary of Suba, he completed theology, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in 2008 at San Buenaventura University in Bogotá. He was ordained a priest in 2008. Once ordained a priest, he is transferred to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows in Manare (Casanare) as parish vicar and then as prior and parish priest until July 2013. In August of this year he is transferred to the Community of Sistina, in Rome, to study Sacred Liturgy at the Pontifical Institute San Anselmo, where he obtained the License in July 2016. On his return to Colombia he is appointed as Master of Professors.

Fr. Francisco Javier Monroy Rodríguez, OAR

Born in Valladolid (Spain) in 1970. He studied at the San Agustín College in Valladolid until EGB. In the School San Jose de Lodosa made the BUP and COU. He entered the novitiate 1989. He made his solemn profession in 1994 and was ordained a priest in 1995.
Bachelor of Biblical Theology from the Gregorian University. Master of spiritual accompaniment and vocational discernment. Master Terapueta Councellor. Counselor of the Vicariate 2012-2016. Parochial Vicar in Lodosa, Zaragoza and Madrid. Trainer since 1998 in Zaragoza, Madrid, and since 2009 in the Postulancy St. Augustine (México)

Fr. Gabriel Antonio Robles Alonso, OAR

He was born in Panama in 1962. He was a student of the San Agustín College of Panama. He made his profession in 1985 and was a priest in 1989. He moved to Rome to complete his training. He holds a degree in Fundamental Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
He served as general councilor from 1992 to 2004 and as procurator general to the Holy See from 1998 to 2004. From 2010 to 2013 he was Vicar in Panama of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation. In the last provincial chapter of 2013 he was appointed Vicar of the Province.

Fr. Antonio Carrón de la Torre, OAR

Born in Madrid in 1980. He made his solemn profession in 2004 in Burgos and was ordained a priest in 2005 in Granada.
Degree in Pastoral Theology from the Faculty of Theology of Granada, Master in Contemporary Philosophy and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Granada. From 2004 he worked as a teacher, tutor and pastoral coordinator at the Colegio Santo Tomás de Villanueva de Granada, where he has been director since 2010 until today.

He has been provincial councilor of the Province Santo Tomás de Villanueva in charge of the Provincial Secretariat of Educational Apostolate and Delegate of the ONG Haren Alde in Andalusia.

Francisco Javier Tello Vegas, Secretary General of the Order

Francisco Javier Tello Vegas was born in 1972 in Cáceres, Spain. He professed as an Augustinian Recollect in 1991, although his definitive commitment with the Order was not made until 1996. Meanwhile, he completed the studies of philosophy and theology in the Faculty of San Esteban, in Salamanca.

He was ordained priest on May 22, 1999 and later finished the studies on Catechetics in the Institute of St. Pius X from the Pontifical University of Salamanca in Madrid.

In November 2000 he was transferred to Venezuela. There he was a counselor of the Vicariate of the Province of St. Joseph during the 2003-2006 trienium. He became the Vicar Provincial there when on April 23, 2013 he was appointed as Secretary General of the Order.
